Creating Your Own Feng Shui Wealth Vase
One of the oldest feng shui practices for attracting prosperity and abundance is keeping the wealth vase at home.
On top of that, they are believed to bring peace and harmony to relationships between members of the household.
This is partly attributed the word vase, 瓶 in mandarin, pronounced as ping which is a homonym for 平 which means peace.
This basically mean that the two words sound the same but have different meanings.
The significance of the treasure vase can also be observed as one of the artifacts found on the footprints of Buddha himself. And as one of the 8 auspicious symbols of Buddhism.
So why would any homeowner who believes in feng shui not want to have one of these safely placed in the house?
Wealth vase characteristics
As that are probably millions of types of vases available for consumers to buy, it goes without saying that there are certain characteristics to help it become as potent as possible in enhancing wealth luck.
While it is generally accepted that a vase made of earth or metal material will be suitable for a wealth vase, the majority of practitioners advocate the use of earth material like:
This is partly because earth gives birth to metal in the elemental cycle.
In addition to that, earth is the only neutral element of the 5 fundamental elements of feng shui.
When calling out for wealth, it is usually better to use a soft approach rather than loud. Earth being neutral fits the bill nicely.
This is of no reference to the Olympics. They are simply the best to use.
However, if you really are on a tight budget, consider copper, brass, aluminum, stainless steel, other alloys.
A reservation I have with the use of metal is the appearance can seem too shiny that is trying to attract attention.
Moreover, wealth vases are classic feng shui items. And a metallic surface does not bring out that rustic and retro look at all.
I do acknowledge and accept that there are people who prefer the metal look. So it is up to you to decide.
There must be countless varieties of the shape of vases you can find.
- Botanical jar
So much that it is impossible to discuss them all and their suitability.
Instead let’s take about important aspects of the shape of a suitable wealth vase.
Firstly, it’s mouth should have a wide opening so that it allows wealth to flow in easily.
Secondly, it should have an observable neck so that the mouth and neck are cleary distinguishable from each other. This means that the neck should be slimmer than the mouth opening partly to retain as much wealth energy as possible in it.
However, be careful not to overdo this part with a slender neck resembling a giraffe.
Thirdly, it should have a wide body and bottom so that it can contain as much wealth as possible.
A slender one with a narrow base as footing is not ideal as it might topple over and break… which is a bad omen…
My preferred shape is pot. But is is really up to you to make your own decision on which shape is best for you.
If you get that feeling that it’s the right shape, then it’s probably the right shape.
Vase design and decoration
Ideally, the vase would be decorated with auspicious symbols of feng shui.
For example, dragons, phoenix, gold ingots, goldfish, red bat, Chinese coins, etc. It could also contain auspicious Chinese words as well.
If in doubt, it is better to err on the side of caution and get a plain colored one.
Setting up a feng shui wealth vase the wrong way can be detrimental to wealth luck instead of energizing it.
Ingredients for wealth vase
There is no standard checklist for what to include in the wealth vase.
However, it is often recommended by practitioners to at least fill it with the following.
You need 7 real gemstones or semi-precious stones of your choice.
If you are rich and have the means, expensive gemstones like the following can be considered.
- Red beryl
- Black opal
- Red coral
But as the above are beyond the means of most of us, semi-precious stones like the following can also be used.
- Tiger eye
A lot of practitioners insist that the more valuable the stones are, the more effective the vase would be in calling wealth energy.
But I feel that it would be fine as long as they are natural gemstones that originate from ground soil.
Don’t use synthetic or artificially manufactured gemstones.
9 Chinese coins tied with a red string.
Take note that there are various types of Chinese coins used in different periods and dynasties.
While most of them will bring good fortune, it is generally accepted that the coins from the Kang Hsi period with the Chinese words Yin and Yang on one side of the coin is the most influential.
Also bear in mind that authentic coins belonging to these periods are hard to come by and can be expensive to acquire should you find them in an antique auction.
So almost all of them that is being sold these days are replicas.
Nevertheless, they can still be used for your wealth case.
Just remember get them in metal rather than plastic.
Put money in a traditional Chinese red packet and place it in the vase.
This is preferably a big note instead of a $1 note.
In addition, you might also want to include another red packet containing money from a rich person. This needs to be money given to you, not stolen.
Talking about personal property from the rich, there is the…
It is believed that you can tap on the prosperity luck from a wealthy person by adding the soil found on his home in the vase.
Again, just like the money, this needs to be given to you knowingly. No tricks, and no stealing.
To signify a life with no hardship, add 5 types of traditional Chinese foodstuff.
- Green beans
- Red beans
- Soya beans
You don’t need to have them in 1 serving size each. Just half a fist full of each foodstuff will be good enough.
To avoid having them oxidize and wreaking chaos in the vase, keep them in small zip-lock backs, and group them together in a bigger bag.
Personal symbolic wealth items
If you have things that you personally feel are your wealth charms, you can also put them in the vase.
If they have significant meaning or you attribute them for certain windfalls in the past, they can be placed in the case as well.
Wealth vase placement
There are typically 3 areas of the house that are considered ideal places to locate the vase.
- The section that represents you in the trigrms
- The section and direction of wealth according to 8 House feng shui
- The area where the flying water star 8 is for the year
However, because the vase will not be displayed openly, I don’t think it matters so much as to specify where to put it.
A hidden area in the bedroom or living room would be fine.
Things to keep in mind
Remember that the wealth case is meant to be kept in a secret place within the house. Preferably somewhere which nobody would reasonably find unless they intrude on your privacy.
This means that a corner within the wardrobe, bedroom drawer, under the storage bed, etc, are all fine.
Also, do not fill the wealth vase to the brim.
This is because if it is already full, there won’t be any remaining space for new wealth to enter. Leaving it half full will be good.
There are also wealth vase kits being sold by retailers.
These products can be useful. But if the kits include the ingredients to put in the vase, don’t use them.
Ingredients should be things which you source for personally.
Once you close, or seal, the vase, it should not be opened. If it is opened, you need to start all over again with a new vase to harness it’s metaphysical powers again.
To prevent accidental opening, you might want to seal the lid with ribbons, strings, tape, etc. Don’t use glues or liquid adhesives.
Finally, don’t expect the wealth vast to make you a millionaire while you sleep at home. You need to help it help you.
